Why do certain cans of Pepsi have "New York" written around the lid?!

Question:

Why do certain cans of Pepsi have "New York" written around the lid?

I know that these cans are sold in NY, but why are they specifically labeled "New York"? I haven't seen this on cans sold in other states. Thanks!

Hi from France ?

I have not seen this in my country right now !! Perhaps it's some advertising for New York city ? Hm...Not sure finally ...

Have a nice day,

Cat.

It probably means it was made at the original plant.

Because there is so much traffic, they want you to know where you are.

It`s probably some kind of New York advertising. In the U. P. of michigan the lids are gold. Must be some code or something to identify the factory.

It may be a Sept. 11 memorial type can? The company which markets Pepsi is based in New York as well.
