I believe that Liptons were absorbed by Home and Colonial Stores who were taken over by International Stores who became part of Gateway now Somerfield.

VG and Maid Marion were sold to the Spar group in the 70s.

Wavy line became Happy Shopper and later were absorbed into Nisa.

your going back a bit now

I believe Freddie is right. It's a shame really that shops like that have disappeared and we are all forced to take a trip to the huge supermarkets like Tesco and Asda to do our shopping. Gone are the days when you could nip into your local Liptons for a few essentials and not be lured into spending 50 quid!
