Why is it suggested to use cold water when making fresh coffee or tea?!

Question:

Why is it suggested to use cold water when making fresh coffee or tea?

and if I used room temp water would that affect the quality or taste? thanks.

Answers:
Not if it starts out as cold water. I think its more so you won't use hot water from the tap, which contains more sediment (due to the copper pipes hot water runs through) that could give it a bad taste or clog the machines.

You're definitelly better using recently boiled water at about 92 degrees celcius. This allows the flavous to permiate more easily and makes for a much better 'hot drink'.
