Is it true that iced tea actually dehydrates you??!

Question:

Is it true that iced tea actually dehydrates you??

Because of the caffeine in it? Thats all I drink, so I must be in a constant state of dehydration!

Answers:
It is a diuretic, and increases urination.

Not sure, but iced tea is my favorite drink and I am never thirsty when I am finished drinking it.

No. That myth has been debunked. Any water based beverage is good to prevent dehydration, but you should still alternate with plain water.

The caffeine in iced tea has a diureic effect on the kidneys, but all the water hydrates the body. It isn't a myth that caffeine is a diuretic.

It doesn't dehydrate you - it just doesn't hydrate you as much as water will
