I am doing a project for economics where I have to find out why the Coca-Cola Company came up with POWERade...I've tried research but I can't find the answer. Can someone help, please?

In response to Gatorade's success, the Coca-Cola Company released POWERade to compete in the sports drink market in the US. It was first introduced in 1988, starting in soda fountains and in 1992 the beverage was officially launched nationwide.

You should also find the annual reports of the Coca-Cola Company from 1988-1993 where you will find some additional product info and background on POWERade.

You could find copies of the annual report in your business school library and in some cases, the larger public libraries.
