by now every body knows of the trick but whats the best amount of mentos to put into the cola?

It only takes a few to cause quite an explosion. But i've tried up to 14. I think that's about the amount in a pack of mentos.
Open your coke bottle, put a business card on top of the open bottle, have a test tube full of mentos placed on top of the business card. Pull the card away- releasing all of them into the bottle at once, and run like mad! (unless you want to take a diet-coke bath)

You should open up one coca cola bottle and put exactly 15 of the mint kind and 15 of the sour lemon kind.Then close it and shake it and it will really make a big explosion.
