Is it normal to get dizzy after drinking a cup of green tea?!

Question:

Is it normal to get dizzy after drinking a cup of green tea?

I just started drinking green tea 3 days ago, because of its health benefits, but I have noticed that every time I finished drinking the tea, I get dizzy... Should I stop drinking it or what? I truly love green tea now...

Answers:
Do you notice this with other hot beverages or just the green tea?

If it happens with other warm beverages it could have to do with blood pressure. Warmth, either from taking a warm bath, being in the hot sun, or drinking a warm beverage causes blood pressure to drop. This happens with ALL people and for most, it doesn't effect them and the change is subtle and unnoticable. For others though, they do notice changes in blood pressure (for whatever reason.. maybe they are quite small/thin, havent eaten much and have low blood sugars, or just have a more sensitive system) Anyway, the drop in BP can cause them to feel a bit lightheaded and dizzy.

If you dont get this from other warm beverages, then my second guess would be that it's from the caffiene. If your body is not used to that caffiene it can have this effect on you.

I'd recommend switching to decaffienated green tea if this is the case. :)

i've never heard of that happening before. are you sure it's the tea? try a different "brand" and see if it you still feel dizzy.

i get dizzy sometimes after drinking 4 cups of green tea one after the other, i think its because there's caffeine in it and i get dehydrated from it . when i drink water in between cups i dont get dizzy

Since green tea does have some caffine in it there is a possibility of getting a little dizzy depending on how much you have eaten, if you are dehydrated, are taking certain medications or mixing it with other herbals.
If you haven't eaten in a while be sure to eat something like a few cheese and crackers or tea sandwich with it.

it doesn't sound normal to get dizzy after drinking tea. Are you positive that it is the green tea and not someting else? I've never heard of anyone being allergic to green tea, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. I would discontinue drinking it and try a different green tea or try white tea which is equally healthy and tastes a bit better. good luck to ya. Please don't operate any machinery after drinking green tea!
