Im 18 and I have been drinking coke(soft drinks), all my life.?

An average of 4 a day. I'm sooooo addicted! Any tips on how to stop drinking this stuff?

I was doing this very same thing, so one day I did my best to drink just water..at the end of my day I had just a sip of coke (coca cola) and the reaction was almost immediate...the dry taste in my mouth, feeling way too full..and I have not drank anything carbonated since, that was 4 years ago.

You will lose weight, each can of soda has about 16 tablespoons of sugar in it..ugh!

Be very careful especially if there is diabetes in your family. I have heard people that have been coke addicts giving up and within months becoming diabetic!! An alternative that still has sugar and caffine in it is iced tea, there are a lot of different flavors and gives you the same buzz as coke. Give it a go. I personally like at least a cup of coke a day and crave it when i dont have it, but ive managed to cut down to a cup every second day with the help of iced tea drinks.

ps. if like me you get headaches after drinking diet coke it may be a safe alternative if you wish to give up.

start decreasing the glasses of coca cola you drink. and replace what you take from a glass with water. eventually you should cut the habit and sometimes will WANT to drink water instead of coke. you will be alot healthier and possibly lose weight. try and see your gp, and have a diabities test, as you could have mild diabities. i no how you feel though mate. i was addicted, but now i prefer flavoured water. hope this helps mate. *god bless*

This week go to 3 a day and drink a juice instead. A low sugar juice.

Next week go to 2 and 2 other low or no sugar drinks.

Keep this up until you are off sodas. I recently saw the measurement of the amount of sugar in a can of soda. It is
ONE THIRD OF A CUP. That is 5 + tablespoons of sugar in every can.

Read labels on everything for the amount of sugar and fats. It is really important. We are down to 8 sugars per serving as a satisfactory amount. 5 is to little. But more is just not necessary.

Sodas are basically made of chemicals, sugar and carbonated water. You will be much healthier to get off of anything with sugar.

Good Luck. You can taper off, of course if you are strong willed, you can go cold turkey and quit in one day. That was how I quite smoking.
