Is there anyway to keep tea bags to reuse them?!

Question:

Is there anyway to keep tea bags to reuse them?

I have an ice tea maker and was curious if i could reuse the tea bags over? I have been drinking alot of tea because it is hot outside. I am just curious.

Answers:
I do not think they will taste as good the second time around. But if you are desperate to save them you might try storing them in the fridge until you need them again.

If you want to recyle them, you can bust teh bags open and sprinkle the grounds into your garden or shrubs. The soil will love it.

You can't reuse the bags, once you steep them, the flavor is gone and the tea would be very inferior afterwards. Just buy in bulk for better price.

I wouldn't want to keep used tea bags very long, but I have used them when I was making more tea, the same day.

If you reuse them you will likley have a weak and bitter tea.
Unless you are living on an extremely tight budget, I surely wouldn't reuse them. Save money elsewhere.
Kat is correct, they make great compost.

You can. But it won't taste the same if they have been used more than a couple of times. Just look it up. Go to google.com, and see.

I guess if you really wanted to reuse them you could put them in a plastic bag and freeze them. Next time your tea would be very weak though. I don't understand why you'd want to reuse them, Don't you have money for more ?

No. Once you've brewed the tea bag, you can discard the tea. The only possible reuse I can think of is to use a teabag for another purpose. One possibility: if you get a tooth extracted, you can use a dry bag as a pack to stop the bleeding instead of the usual sterile gauze pad that the oral surgeon gives you. However, I don't know why you would want to do this. There may be some other "off label" uses - maybe other answerers will think of some. But if you really like tea, reusing a bag is not an option.
Tip: tea sold in bags is frequently inferior - the dust leavings of better quality tea. So for the best quality tea and the best tasting brew, buy bulk tea and learn to make it like the English do. Of course they aren't iced tea drinkers and mostly don't make their tea with an electric iced tea machine. Or do they? Some Brits can weigh in on this matter.

gourmet stores do carry a teabag cozy to store used teabags but plain old folk just store them in a ziploc/baggie.

Sometimes I use a little tupperware and put in the fridge. There not always good the second time around though, but good luck!!

i personally think that the full flavor of the tea and all the nutrients are in the first brew, but if you don't mind a weaker tea with weaker nutrient content, then I'm sure you'll be fine.

The problem with storing them for future use is that once it gets wet, it is prone to bacterial contamination depending on how soon after the first time you use it the second time. If it's right away, then I wouldn't worry..If it is the next day, I would be concerned.

You can reuse them until they break.
