Why does water freeze like that?!

Question:

Why does water freeze like that?

When you freeze a full bottle of water the ice expandes and the bottle pops out but when you put a half bottle of water in the freezer it sucks in instead. Why?

Answers:
Water expands when it freezes, but air decreases in volume. So when you have a full bottle of water, there isn't enough space for the water to expand. When you have a half full bottle, there's enough space for the expanded water and the lesser volume of air, and the decreased air volume creates a vacuum and sucks in the sides of the bottle.
