Jello shots?!

Question:

Jello shots?

I'm throwing a party for a friend of mine, and want to make jello shots. Looking at recipes online, it seems that most call for 6 oz of hard alcohol (in place of cold water) for every 16 oz of other liquid. Anyone made them any stronger? Or else, what happens when you boil alcohol with the water you're supposed to boil for the jello? Would it just cook off?

Answers:
Use the vodka (or any other liquor) in place of the cold water so there will be still be alcohol present. Do not exceed the recommend ratio of alcohol to other liquid. Since alcohol freezes at a much lower temperature your shots will never solidify. Using the freezer instead of fridge will speed up the process of setting, as it takes longer due to the alcohol.

Use the basic directions on the jello box. (The alcohol will cook away when you boil it).

I used vodka, (try a complimentary flavored vodka), in place of the cold water where it says to 'stir in cold water' to add when making the jello. (After the boiled portion of water).

Well if you add more alcohol you might have to add more jello mix because it might come out bad.

You have to follow the recipe or it wont work.

just follow the recipe they will be great i make them all the time i use blackberry vodka yummy think i will go make some now

Jello shots are a major disappointment. You just get sick of eating jello trying to get drunk. The alcohol is just too low and there is no good way of making them better. I would suggest making great tasting margaritas, pina coladas, long island ice teas or several other great drinks.

First of all you are in "Non-Alcoholic Drinks". I will try and answer your question anyway. Know I have never made them any stronger, that is actually very strong. If you want stronger, used a high proof alcohol. When cooking heat meets alcohol, the alcohol burns off and you are just left with the flavor. Try and make a batch to taste before you make them for the party. Good luck and have fun!!!!
