Why is Coke black? - i've always wondered..?!

Question:

Why is Coke black? - i've always wondered..?

Answers:
It is actually a dark brown. They use carmel coloring to get that. I assume it has always been that color, I have never seen it as any other color.

UPDATE - I did a quick search and found on snopes that it was never green and has always been brown. Back in the original days of copper kettles, consistency was a problem and the brown did cover up sediments or small particles. But with modern processing this is no longer an issue.

to hide the dirty water

this is something nobody can figure out for the rest of eternity

coke is actually not black it is a dark shade of brown

and coke is that color because of the carmel coloring

they use food coloring. otherwise it would be a really gross dark green color.

Coke is black because it absorbs most wave-lengths of light.

Anybody remember crystal Pepsi??? It tasted like Pepsi but looked like sprite! If you remove the caramel coloring, the soda won't look brown anymore, it'll be clear.

no coke is a brownish color. Look on the can where it shows the ingredients. It will say "BROWN ----" That is the number of the color.

its actually brown. when you spill some its brown isnt it?

read the ingredients, its caramel coloring

Caramel Color

They use food cololring and because the cola bean is black.
