Yep, I drink a lot of it and tend to load up on Mt Dew and/or coca cola when I need to stay awake. I love sports and play lots of them daily I am just wondering if it would make a big difference to lay off of these. Maybe one 12 or 20 fl. oz. a week of soda?

Mountain Dew isn't any better or worse then other sodas out there. It has slightly more sugar then most.

ummmm after u have a caffeine high......comes the tiredness
sometimes......

The caffeine isn't that great for you and the high fructose corn syrup will destroy your health. It doesn't do anything to your nuts if that is what you are wondering but it is really bad for you. If you want to drink something healthy, go with water or 100% juice.

The biggest thing I know about Mt Dew is that it's loaded with caffeine. My university students used to load up on it during finals weeks.

I've read that the yellow dye can lower your sperm count. I don't know if it is true, but I've been off Birth Control for over 2 years and haven't gotten pregnant and my husband drinks mountain dew all the time.

Seriously, Mt. Dew is one of the worst things that you could possibly ingest. It is full of high fructose crap, food coloring and caffeine (which I personally love so I do not have too much of a problem with that aspect of it, all in moderation!). It offers nothing but cavities and empty calories.

I remember seeing an article of news report on it saying that it does lower sperm count.

When in training, we were not permitted to drink anything with sugar, caffeine, or carbonated. All of us could tell a difference. Water is just fine, and better for you.

Well, too much MD will definitely mean a lot of trips to the bathroom!

Drinking too much Mountain Dew has been proven to lower sperm count.

Addiction/symptoms of withdrawal, blood sugar disturbance, insomnia, overall feeling of illness after ingesting too much....

Have you considered an alternative to Mt Dew? I used to drink a lot of it and would find myself bouncing off the walls actually. Then I was introduced to the Xs energy drinks and found them to be an excellent alternative. Plus the main energy source is B12 (4900% of MDR). Caffeine-free versions are available as well and they are sugar-free.

There are a lot of myths and rumors out there. Ultimately, you body is a filtering system that only keeps what it needs for survival and nutrition. The rest gets stored or eliminated. To make it simple, anything that is not needed by you body becomes a toxin that can be hazardous to your health. So, to keep it simple, anything in moderation is fine. Just don't overdo it.

On another note, the yellow 5 causing your sperm count to be low is a bunch of poo-poo. I've reduced my caffeine intake to about 1 a month from about 2 a day. I have two kids and a best friend of mine has four. Together we kept Mountain Dew in business and it didn't affect our "having kids" abilities one bit.

the amount of sugar in one can of soda is 12 teaspoons. that shuts down your immune system for a whole day. carbonation allows it to get more into your teeth too. pretty much anything that is not vegan is bad for us with all the chemicals and hormones and added colours and sugars...but i find it too hard to be a vegan...moderation is the key

12 oz. is better

at first you will get headaches and possibly tired, but after a few days, you will be glad you quit. soda in general can really dehydrate your body. ever propel, water or gatorade is better than soda and caffeine.
