What is the best way to make fizzy drinks less fizzy in the shortest time?!

Question:

What is the best way to make fizzy drinks less fizzy in the shortest time?

Answers:
That depends what you mean by 'less fizzy'. Do you just want the fizziness reduced, or do you want it eliminated altogether? Also, is there an optimal serving temperature that you're going for?

If you still want it to be a bit fizzy, your best bet is to stick the drink in the freezer for a while. The colder a liquid is, the more CO2 is can absorb. That means that more of the CO2 (Carbon Dioxide, the gas that makes it fizzy) stays in the liquid, and doesn't form bubbles. Of course, then you're drinking a really cold drink.

If you want it to be completely free of fizz, then the other temperature is the best. Boil it (or take it as close to boiling as possible) and all of the CO2 will escape before you drink it. Then you can chill the drink to whatever temperature you like.

Hope that that helps!

Physics.

shake it a little, open it and before the foam comes out close it again do this twice and it wont be so bad

A tiny bit of sugar will fizz and remove

For bottles, open it and pour a little out to get some room in the bottle. Replace the cap and shake it hard. Loosen the cap JUST ENOUGH to let out the air, and quickly tighten it again before the fizz starts coming out. Repeat until all or most of the fizz is gone.

Obviously this doesn’t work with a can. You can pour the drink out into a glass and stir it with a spoon, but this takes a lot longer.

What's the point?

Hit it with a dash of salt.

add water or juice
