Do carbonated drinks lose its carbonation faster in hot or cold temperatures?

Does it depend on if the drink has been open or not?


Answers:
Open or closed, the answer is hot.

Ever see the marked down pop sitting outside the gas station?

It's flat.

Then go pull one out of the fridge. There's a huge difference.
If you want to get technical, the warmer temperature means the atoms are more "excited" and there is more energy transfered between atoms. Bingo, carbonation slips out.

in hot temp it is lost faster transfer unused amount from large bottles to smaller glass bottle for later use should be airtight

i don't think the temperature is that great of a factor. but once it's opened and saved, regardless of temperature, it will lose carbonation.

it definately depends on rather or not it has been open,hot makes it flat faster.

carbonation is caused by CO2 in liquid form. it's cold enough in cold beverages to stay that way. at room temperature, it rapidly turns into a gas and evaporates. if the container hasn't been opened, it can't go anywhere, so the temperature doesn't matter as long as you chill the drink before you open it. to sum up...warm beverages will lose carbonation a lot more quickly than cold ones.

Hot and cold, depending where you get the soda from going from hot to cold to hot again can effect the carbonation of the soda. Never buy your soda from a gas station on the outside display or on the inside never but the soda 12 pack or case that is faded... the often store restock on the coolers, if comes to the store hot, then goes to cold... depend on the 12 pakc it goes back outside into the cold or it says inside...
