I use to have a friend that drank it because he knew that nobody else liked it and would not ask for any.

i have drank it, but not for a very long time. i was a kid last time i did :)
Tab is horrible!
A couple of years ago I had an opportunity to try a Tab - I wouldn't have purchased it because I remember it tasted soo awful the last time I tried it in the 70's.
I was right - it was even worse than I remembered!
I have. I don't know anyone who drinks it willingly. As I remember the taste is less than appealing.
I quit drinking all soda many years ago when my 5th grade class dissolved chicken bones in soda, it just never held the same appeal for me after that....
With good reason! Tab tastes like a**! It was awful in the 1970s, when it was sweetened with saccharin. It's probably worse now with the NutraSweet.
I tried it but never liked it. TaB has a very strong following, so strong that the Coca-Cola Company continues to make it to satisfy the demand for certain markets in the US.
In addition, TaB energy was introduced to leverage the brand.
I love Tab! It's less fizzy than Coke Light, Sprite Zero etc. But I am battling to find it now that I have moved to the UK.
