How can you open a coconut ?!

Question:

How can you open a coconut ?

Answers:
throw it up in the air.

BASH IT WITH YA SHAFT!

hammer

THATS A GOOD QUESTION AND I REMEMBER GETTING THEM FROM THE FAIR GROUND AS A PRIZE.....drill a hole in the top where those little eyes are and suck or drain the milk out...it,s yummy.........then bash it on the pavement till it cracks open.....more yummy

Bang a screwdriver in one of the little 'eyes' in the top and pour out the milk. Then wallop it with a hammer, throw it against the wall, jump on it (go to casualty), get someone else to do it...

stand on it, throw it at a wall/ a person / usa a knife etc etc. coconuts are cute. dont hurt them

Stihl saw with a stone cutting blade is by far the best way.

If you're in the kitchen and you have a rolling-pin you can use that.
Hold the nut in one hand with one 'end' pointing away from you, then use the shaft of the pin to bash round the end of the nut, rotate the nut as you do so.
Have something to hand to catch the milk.

If you look under the furry part near the apex you will see "eyes', indentations that are quite soft to drill open with a knife to empty the milk. Otherwise use a hatchet and lob the top off while holding it. If you do it swiftly and deftly, you will not even spill a drop!

throw it in the air and shoot it

hammer time

First you have to cut of all the outer skin (not as hard as the inner shell). After you've cleaned the outer part, and get to the hard shell, you crack it with a knife and hold it over a bowl or container to pour the coconut water.

Next, to get to the coconut meat you can either cut the coconut in half and scrape the meat out with a spoon
or you can break the shell away with a big knife then the peel the brown thin surface that sticks to the coconut meat.

You need: 1 coconut

hammer

large nails

screwdriver

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375. Using your hammer and nails, poke a hole in each of the eyes of the coconut. If necessary, use the screwdriver to enlarge the holes. Drain out the milk, making sure it smells and tastes sweet. If the milk does not taste sweet, the coconut is inedible. Place in the oven and cook for 25 minute or until you hear a pop and it has cracked. Remove from the oven. Hit it with a hammer until it splits. Tap the shell with the hammer until the meat falls away from the shell.

If you need grated coconut, you can place the meat into a food processor and pulse until the desired texture is reached.

My thoughts:
This sounds scary and dangerous but it's really not. The skin pops right off after it's heated without the coconut meat being affected taste or otherwise. Just make sure you use very clean nails and a clean screwdriver.

Drill a hole through one of the eyes with a sharp pointed knife.

pierce the little holes at the end with a skewer to get the coconut milk out and then whack it on something hard I tend to drop mine from a great height onto concrete floor. (make sure its clean 1st though might be a bit minging if it feel into some doggy doos

lol... first you put a screwdriver through one of the three holes on the top of it and poor out the milk(one is thinner than the others) then you hit it w a hammer. or another hard object

put a nail in the top pull out and drain all the milk out, then get the hammer and hit it until it cracks open

Not had a coconut for years , my mum used to heat a poker up in the coal fire to make holes in to pour the milk out ,(it looked like a little face when she'd finished two eyes an a nose ) then bash it with a hammer ... oh the good old days ,

this one's tricky. if you are brave, and you have a bolo, a big knife as in sword-like, every filipino home has one. hold the coconut in you left hand if you're right handed, strike the coconut with your bolo and just pray you don't hit you arm. that's how we do it. rotate the coconut after you hit a spot. i've seen how they do it in Iron Chef with drills and stuff... too high tech for me.

smash it open

Stab it in the eyes with a screw driver, then smash it's head on the ground. And then watch it bounce back up and sock you in the mouth. LOL

Take all the green off of the top part where the eyes are and then use a butchers knife and cut the top off. Have a bowl ready to catch the water and use a knife to slice off the milk inside.

FOXYS`right`hes`nicked`my ans`il report it to-TRINI`LOPEZ`if i had`a Hammer`or` HARRY`BELEFONTES`Coconut woman`

Safe Method.....no lethal chopping LOL. After you have punctured fruit and drained the juice, put it in a bench vise and tighten slowly. Shell will crack all the way around.

With a skewer poke out the black dots at one end of the coconut and place it dot side down for the liquid to pour out - this, when strained is a delicious drink - and then we laid out a plastic sheet, placed the coconut on it, wrapped it up loosely and then with a meat mallet, or a hammer - which ever comes to hand hit it hard until it cracks. Turn it round a bit and hit it, until the whole think breaks into pieces. I think that pieces works better for removal of the flesh. Hope this helps.

To open a coconut, hold the coconut on your left hand & in your right hand, hold a large knife or hammer etc & break the coconut in half. Make sure your balance is correct, or esle your coconut will be flying in wrong direction.

Hi,
Many moons ago I used to hit them with a hammer.
Then I went to work and live in The Sultanate of Oman, where coconunuts are not those brown hairy things in fairgrounds and supermarkets, but green. Their skin.
Well you find a fallen one, take a big knife to remove the skin, then hit it sharply all around the middle, and it breaks open in two halves, milk in the bottom bit.
Why folks fiddle around drilling holes in the three "eyes" to get the coconut juice out is beyond me.
Just hit the thing all around the waist, and it snaps open.
I like coconut, but it can "bung you up"

Bob

you bang it on top of your head and then it will crack open!!!!!

Put a hole in the end to drain liquid and once that is done hit it to crack it in half. I assume you are talking about the ones that are ripe.(brown) Also make sure you are on a surface that won't give or break or you will do damage to you counters and stuff. If you do not drain it expect a face full of coconut milk. Enjoy nothing like fresy coconut.
