Describe a specific situation where you have provided excellent customer service in your most recent position. why was this effective?
Answers:
Wht should it have to be recent. I am a firm believer you treat others the wat you want to be treated. Besides in a customer service profession the customer is always right. They spend the money that pays you each week and keeps the people you work for in business. Besides if they are treated right chances are they will come back. Remember you never get a second chance at making a first impression.
I was a store manager at McDonald's for 11 years. On occassion I would take a child behind the counter and let them make their own ice cream cone. Excellent Customer Service is going beyond to serve a guest. That memory will stay with those children. They will be back
Many years ago a woman telephone the shop wanting to know how to measure up her house for a new sink bench but couldn't follow what I thought were straight forward directions.
I asked her where she was in town and said to her I would visit her and do it myself just so we would get it right.
I saw one of the guys who had a company car and asked him if I could borrow it for 15 minutes and told the woman I would be there in 5 minutes.
I went to her place with a metric tape measure and wooden rule to measure the sinkbench, discussing in detail every aspect.
When she confirmned we were in agreement she ordered the sinkbench to be made and agreed to come in and open an account.
She was doing up an old home and I knew she would be spending a lot of money and we could benifit. I said for her to see me and I would help set up a trade account (we gave discounts to builders)
I left the rule with her so she would have to get used to metrics as were were just changing from Imperial.
Over the years that followed we became good friends and she was a regular customer spending thousands of dollars.
It was effective as I knew what I was selling and she knew what she wanted but couldn't understand how to get what she wanted.
Sitting in your chair think of all the measurements you need to make to replace your sink bench and be able to go out and order one without having to say you will have to go home and re-measure.
