Why doesn't carbonated mineral water taste as nice as still mineral water?!

Question:

Why doesn't carbonated mineral water taste as nice as still mineral water?

Or at least why do they taste different?

Answers:
Well better or worse is a matter of taste. Mineral water with bubbles comes from a different source than still mineral water. They taste different because the dissolved carbon dioxide (the bubbles) makes carbonic acid. The acid dissolves more and different minerals than in the less acidic water. The balance of minerals is the taste. Waters like Dasani are purified and then an optimum blend of minerals is added back to get the flavor they are shooting for.

Prefer carbonated myself - a least you get a bit of fizz lol

I prefer carbonated - fizzy - drinks. So it must just be a matter of taste.

Each to his/her own.....

i prefer the carbonated as well- it's so refreshing. I used to live in Ireland and desperately miss the fact that you can get plain carbonated water at any shop or restaurant- in the states, so many of the carbonated waters are sweetened or flavored badly. I love just plain sparkling water. Yum!

The carbon dioxide affects the flavour. Yuk.

carbonated mineral gives a slightly different texture and taste when consumed - whether it is better or worse, it is quite up to the individual

I think it tastes better, but that's all down to personal choice.

It's the carbon dioxide that alters the taste. Some of it dissolves into the water to make mild carbonic acid.
