Answers:
from what I understand diet cke or any other diet cola actually makes you gain. So you are waisting your time. Have you ever noticed that there are a lot of fat people who drink diet drinks and don't lose a pound.

yes

it actually makes you hungrier because your body is expecting sugar but doesnt get it

Yes, drinking diet soda's vs. regular soda's will help you lose weight. A regular soda is about 150 calories a can, so you are cutting out a lot by drinking diet. Of course, water would be the best substitute if you are concerned about health too.

Drinking diet anything can be harmful if you listen to what they say. I prefer diet over regular no calories or sugar. Thing is you must still get water intake with it because sodas by themselves will not remove toxins fron you system. Try for 16 to 32 oz of water a day besides what you are doing. Diet soda by itself will not help lose that much weight. You need to adjust everything else you do as well. less sweets and breads more excercise. 2-3 pounds a week is about the proper weight loss per week.

Anytime you can lose sugar calories - go for it.

you probably drink so much diet or regular soda - try water, milk and juice and just ease off the sodas and you'll be happier and healthier longer run

Diet soda rearranges your brain cells. I'd take the weight over that. However, many claim that diet coke actually results in gaining weight

What isn't so bad for you is Splenda
Splenda is used to make Pepsi one so try drinking Pepsi one instead of diet coke

Sometimes diet drinks can cause a craving for sweets. The sweet taste causes your brain to release certain feel-good chemicals that sugar usually causes it to release. However, there is no sugar to back this up, so your brain sends out cravings for sweets to support the chemicals it's already released. That's one reason diet drinks do not always lead to or even help with weight loss.

Sorry, I don't have any more details than this because it's a result of only "passive research" on my part -- the next article in the magazine dealt with this, so I read it when I was reading through the magazine. I've heard of a book that covers this in greater detail "Potatoes Not Prozac" but I don't know the author. If you're interested, Google or Amazon can help you find it with just the title.
