i suggest you dont drink it because after the mile you'll be twice exhausted because even though energy drinks give you a boost they'll make tired after wards

I drank one about 30 to 45 minutes before and it worked but i was really tired after but if its just for a mile and that's it id drink it about 45 to 30 minutes before.
I don't know about the milk though, sorry.

Get a blue thunder from the GNC. Drink some 45 minues before and take little sips during the run.

I agree, I wouldn't drink it at all. Drink water before instead. You could leave the energy drink for after the run.

Besides a mile run isn't that bad that you would need that much of an energy boost(if your like me) but anyway...

About the milk think, I'm nor sure. I think I've heard that before too. Maybe it's something about the dairy that's in it, or the protein??

I'd say about 35 minutes would be about right. The B-12 is at it's peak after drinking a medium strength energy drink such as red bull.

And the milk issue. You can drink milk if you want. Just make sure it's low fat because the fat in regualr milk can slow down digestion. I usually don't drink it cuz if i'm running and it's a hot day, I think about it curdling in my stomach. But, that's just me.

Good luck.

You should know that most energy drinks contain high levels of sugar and caffeine. That's what can give you the "jitters" and then a "crash" which can be hard on your body. Also, since you are a runner, you could become dehydrated.

I drink an energy drink that doesn't have all the sugar and caffeine. It works in minutes and lasts for hours. The main thing for me is that it is healthier than most energy drinks.
I usually drink one about 30 minutes to an hour before I exercise or work out. It works really great for me.

I found mine on line at www.carlshealthhelp.com/energy

Your better off fueling from the endorphins of the run itself just drink plenty of water and stretch out really good! ? =o)

don't drink them you will get exhausted but if have to do it . It takes five minutes for it to work

30 minutes should get u going!!!

I think you can drink the energy drink about 30 mins. ahead of time.
when it comes to the milk I am not sure.
maybe you will turn it into butter in your stomach till the race if over lol lol

about 30 to 45 minutes would be ok
