Answers:
you can get a toddy cold press system- probably the most user friendly way to do it....they sell it at border's in the seattle's best cafe...about 30.00- i bought one recently and it's an excellent investment.

the one thing i LOVE about the toddy/cold press coffee is that it's so much less acidic than regular coffee- i used to just brew coffee and refrigerate it, but it doesn't have that same smooth quality that cold-press coffee does. plus, if you want to microwave cold-press coffee, it won't taste like when you re-heat regular coffee- no battery acid!

otherwise, i think you can take a pound of coffee and wrap in a cheesecloth and tie it- like a big teabag- place in a big container (non-reactive pot or plastic containter) with about 10 cups of water. leave for eight to twelve hours. then take coffee out (i would also strain the liquid- maybe through more cheesecloth to get rid of the 'silt,') and, voila- cold coffee!

this is a concentrate, by the way - i think you are meant to use one part coffee to 2-3 parts water. but, i like mine strong, so i go about half and half if not stronger.

i think that the toddy is the way to go- for me, at least, the convenience of it is awesome- you do basically the same thing, but in a plastic container that has a filter in the bottom. after eight hours, you just uncork the container and let the coffee filter down. easy cleanup, no fuss.

my new favorite thing!

There are special machines you can buy....

I think you need a special coffee maker to make pressed coffee.

You would still have to make it as hot at then cool it. You need heat to make the coffee brew. They do it the same way you just do not see that part. Unless of course they are fooling you and using instant coffee.

ummm add ice
