Is Blue Hawaiian and Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee the same?!
Is Blue Hawaiian and Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee the same?
Answers:
Jamaican Blue Mountain comes from high in the mountains of Jamaica as Hawaiian blue is grown in the mountains of,you guessed it, Hawaii. Both coffees are coveted for their aroma and taste, and since they are harvested from arabica beans which grow higher in the mountain as opposed to robusta beans which grow more lower on the slopes, there are fewer beans at harvest, hence the difference in price.Taste wise there is a difference as well and in my opinion the Jamaican Blue Mountain is better, less acidic and has a fuller body, but hey it's only my opinion.
No--not unless someone in the supply chain committed consumer fraud. Coffee varietals are supposed to come from the region advertised in their name; you wouldn't expect Ethiopian Harrar to come from Colombia, would you?
jamaica blue mountain....is the original.
hawaiian coffee is usually kona coffee.
no they are not......and if i had to vote for my fav it would be the jamaician blue mountain..the best i have ever had..it has been harder to find and more expensive lately due to the crops being almost destroyed a few year back due to weather in the area..but you can go right to the site and order online..its worth the cost..
Having been to Hawaii and worked in Jamaica, there is a difference in 2 way, one the variety of bean grown, Kona is more from the Sumatran strain of the original Arabica, Blue Mountian is of the Ethopian strain more to the varieties grown in Central America.
Jamaican Blue Mountain is more expensive for 2 reasons also, it grows at 3000-4000 ft above sea level in the Blue Mountian range of Central Jamaica, it is hand picked and is very perishable, I am a big fan of it, but as it ages it does loose its character. I used to buy it in Toronto Canada, both Kona and Blue Mountian, but both have become very scarce lately.
no, one is grown in hawaii, the other (superior one) is grown in Jamaica (the greatest island on earth).
