What is the difference between glass and plastic measuring cups?!

Question:

What is the difference between glass and plastic measuring cups?

Someone told me that glass measueing cups are used for different reason than the plastic. Can anyone tell me what they are for.

Answers:
The little ones with the handles that stack inside each other: those are for dry measure. The glass cup that has the measurements on the side is for liquid measure.

Glass measuring cups are for liquids and plastic/metal measuring cups are for dry ingredients. ;)

The only thing I could think of is that you could use the glass ones to hold hot liquid (water, broth) as opposed to using the plastics ones which might not handle hot liquid as well. Also the glass ones would be easier to clean afterwards even for flour and other stickier type ingredients.

glass and plastic measuring cups are only different in how you can use them. Glass is the preferred method due to glass being able to hold hot liquids, baking, and microwaving. Plastic is not preferred because plastic stains, has been known for retaining bacteria and is more difficult to wash (dishwashers).

actually, it doesnt really matter. it depends on your opinion

I use them both for the same reason I need to measure with anyway! So i dont see any differance!

Some people may like to have obviously separate tools to prevent any cross contamination or if they are kosher and must separate all their foods during preparation. As well as heat melting plastic, lab techs would use glass over plastic for substances such as acids for similar reasons.
