Does soda that has gone "flat" recarbonate in your stomach?!

Question:

Does soda that has gone "flat" recarbonate in your stomach?

I have had gastric bypass and told not to drink any carbonated drinks. Several friends say that they drink flat sodas but i have heard that they recarbonate in your stomach and I am wondereing if this is true? If it is true how does this occur?

Answers:
No it does not recarbonate. It might cause a slight discomfort because of what is in the drink and in your stomach. But again, no recarbonation or other such reaction will occur. Juice is SO MUCH better than flat soda though. ;)

no, it wont, only if you eat pop rocks!

No flat soda doesn't recarbonate in you stomach so it's perfectly safe for you to drink.

Nope once its flat its flat.

Nope when the carbonation is gone it does not return. I would rather drink juice than flat soda but to each his own.
