Do Cows have to be pregnant to give milk?!

Question:

Do Cows have to be pregnant to give milk?

Answers:
Cows have to have had a calf to give milk.

yes

of course cows dont have to be pregnant to produce milk. can you imagine how many times a cow would have to be pregnant to produce milk?? NO its in a cows genetics to supply milk constantly

Yes, or have given birth.

I think this is how they get cows to produce milk - the female cow gets pregnant, causing her to produce milk, farmer keeps the majority of milk and the calf gets a small amount (they can't drink it all!). After a few pregnancies, the cow can produce milk, well, 'non-stop' (until she can't produce any more at all).

I think you'll find that the milk comes after the cow has given birth, not while she is pregnant.
To put it another way, the cow will not give milk until she has had a calf.

think of them as a wet nurse. women can provide milk to infants other than their own providing they are emptied on a regular basis. their body will refill itself as often as necessary

Cows need to have given birth, in order to produce milk. The calf is taken away from its mother at 1 day old, and fed with some powdered solution.

The continuous milking of the lactating cow means that milk keeps being produced

They have to have just given birth to a calf. The milk is meant to be for the calf, not us. Milk production is actually very cruel, usually the calf is taken away from the mother very very quickly.

No..... or I dont think it has to be pregnant

yes, this is true first cow have a calf and then we get a milk from her, here in india the condition of cows is very poor.they dont get any thing to eat and they walk here and there on the roads.people are very crual to the cows.i feel very help less when i see pregnent cows on the road.i am an animal lover and i am not able to help the cows.i am very sorry on this issue in india.

Wow... I've never thought of that before. I guess so because female humans have to have given birth to produce milk. Here are some links just in case.
