Does cola help with digestion? because its like an acid... does it help?!

Question:

Does cola help with digestion? because its like an acid... does it help?

Answers:
You might be surprised to know that your body functions best in a non-acidic (alkaline) state, so actually drinking cola is not that good for you in general. Sugar consumption also contributes to acidity, so for that reason too, cola is not so great. Acidic conditions in the body contribute to a weakened immune system and the growth of yeast, and the destruction of the helpful bacteria in your digestive tract that help with the digestive process. The acid in your stomach, hydrochloric acid, is not the same as what you get from a cola, in any case, and drinking it doesn't strengthen its action as it breaks down the food.

Cola is bad for you in just about any case. The acid makes heartburn much worse. However in the case of nausea and vomiting Sprite, 7-up and ginger ale can ussually help as do saltines.
