no parents just tell kids that so they dont drink the coffee

That's a myth but caffeine can do a lot of bad stuff to your body. So, it's better to limit it.

EDIT: Here's a link to an article with different food myths including the one that coffee stunts growth:

no thats a myth just like i have heard that coffee makes you black

When my Dad was growing up he was told not to drink coffee because it would stunt his growth. He drank coffee and now he is 6 foot 4 inches tall. I think it is an old wives tale.

No it will not stunt your growth, but it could have detrimental effects on your bones. Caffeine interferes with the absorption of calcium into the bones, which indirectly could affect your height later in life because it could lead to osteoporosis. So if you do drink a lot of coffee, be sure to get enough calcium as well.

Some times it does, some times it doesn't. But you have nothing to worry about, if you're already as tall, as you're ever going to be. But don't you ever wonder- if coffee has that effect on some people, why not on others?- And why doesn't tea? Although you can buy coffee that's non caffinated. Same wtih tea. But why is noncaffinated coffee called decaf? And why is noncaffinated tea called, herbal? Why not call them both, herbal? Or why not call them both, decaffinated?

I don't think so.
