Are Americans addicted to high-sugar drinks?
Why is it so difficult for people, dieting or not, to hand over their soda pop, juice and other high-sugar/calorie drinks, and drink water instead? There's nothing wrong with water; no taste to it, so why do people say it "taste so bad," as they claim? It is even considered the healthiest fluid for your body! Not only does it purify your blood, but it makes your skin clear, gets rid of body waste, and there's absolutely no sugar/calorie content in it.
I'm not asking this question to provoke any pop drinkers out there, and I do think it's okay to have once or twice a year without doing any damage; but I just don't understand why it's so hard for Americans to stop this crazy, 5-soda cans-a-day addiction?! I used to drink Sunkist, Coke, Pepsi, etc. constantly (3 times a week maybe) as a young child, put gave it up ever since my Mother was diagnosed with board line diabetes, and now don't even crave it.
Your thoughts on this?
Answers:
Yes, but most people who try it are DOnt drink more than 2 a week it rots your bones or JUSt don't drink any!

White sugar is the greatest addiction in America. Followed by white salt and then pepperika. All poison the body and Americans are eating more sugar now than ever. Good for population control globally, thanks.
Americans only want something that tastes good and is cheap. Often I have seen that these sugary drinks contain caffeine and America is addicted to caffeine.
when people have been drinking soda since childhood, the habit is very hard to break. it is addictive, and you can get bad headaches if you stop drinking it all at one time. water would taste very plain after always getting soda. a diagnoses of diabetes or something severe is maybe the only way for someone to get off it without help.
It's a bad habit, unfortunately. I was allowed to drink soda at every meal except breakfast and now it's kind of a "comfort drink". Kind of silly, but true. Its the same thing as people who eat Macaroni & Cheese because it's a comfort food, even though it's unhealthy. I given it up a few times but i always come back. I have to admit I'm addicted to Dr.Pepper, and it reminds me of my mom because it was her favorite drink.
