They are close. I've been drinking both off and on since the 1970s, and in the end I will take whichever one is available since they never seem to be offered at the same place.
I'm a bit annoyed that Mr. Pibb is now just called "Pibb" or "Pibb Xtra" or some such thing.
I'm not a big soda drinker, but I prefer Dr. Pepper. Mr. Pibb tastes like crap. I had a t-shirt when I was 3 years old that said "I'm a Pepper!" Guess that sums it all up!

I've had both. Mr. Pibb is OK, but it's a poor man's knock-off of Dr Pepper.

I've always thought Mr. Pibb was better that Dr Pepper, but I never see Pibb anymore, so I just drink Dr Pepper now.
