Consumption of Green Tea?!

Question:

Consumption of Green Tea?

Can anyone tell me what is a safe number or cups of green jasmine tea to drink a day?

I saw a health show and they said normal tea contains caffeine and therefore one should not drink more than 2 cups a day.

But - what about green tea? What is a healthy amount to consume daily?

It does not contain caffeine does it?

Answers:
Green tea has a very small amount of caffeine (less than half of black tea) which is expelled in the first brewing of a tea bag. I usually drink 16 ounces per day, sometimes more.

Anyone who is pregnant should not drink green tea in the first trimester.

when i was in japan, during winter time, my host had served me tea almost continously the whole day, there was a hot pot of jasmine tea or green tea all the time. i loved the smell and the cleansing effect on me. i believe it was the reason why i had very good skin. it does have caffeine.

You cant have too much of green tea. It contains antioxidants that keep your skin young. It contains theobromine which is like caffeine so it helps you digest food better and helps your metabolism. On the Oprah show i saw that if replace all your liquids with green tea you will lose about 8 pounds.(I dont know how true this is though)

Green Tea (6oz.) 20 to 40 mg of Caffeine
Brewed Coffee (6oz.) 80 to 120mg
Black Tea (6oz.) 30 to 40mg

Couldn't find a safe limit listed anywhere...

i drink anywhere from 1-4 cups a day,
and im not dead yet,
so maybe thats a good sign.
