Thatsthespririt.com has quite a lot of useful non-alc recipes. Why not provide a menu of different options, and decorated glasses will always be a hit. Depending on how all-out you want to go and how many people will be there, you could try having a table full of different juices so people can try their own recipes. I recommend picking up a cheap cocktail kit if you can find one - it makes you look the part and having shot measures (25ml is one shot and 50ml is a double) makes it a lot easier to follow recipes. If you can't find a cocktail kit, try a tablespoon and an egg cup - these are normally about right but it's worth checking. A strainer, colourful plastic stirrers and a shaker or screwtop jar are also really good.

Here are a few of the favourites from an event I was at last year:

Sunset:
1 shot Grenadine
Orange Juice
Lemonade

Part fill glass with orange juice, add lemonade, then carefully pour in Grenadine, which will sink and hopefully create a sunset type effect. NB: DO NOT STIR AT ANY POINT!! You might want to practice this one a few times for maximum impact...

Jaffa Ginger:
Orange Juice
Ginger Ale

Mix in a glass - proportions are up to you.

A favourite of mine (can't remember the name):
Orange juice
Cranberry Juice
Raspberry syrup

Mix in a glass! For over 18s, try adding a shot of Triple Sec, Peach Schnapps, or Vodka.

Virgin Colada

A bit different (my own recipes):

Turkish Delightish
1 tbsp Rose Syrup
1tbsp PLJ OR 2tbsp Lemon Juice
Soda /Sparkling Water

Mix in a glass, must be cold. This really does taste like Turkish Delight!

Fizzy H&L
1-2tbsp Lemon Juice
1 tsp Runny Honey
Soda

Mix up lemon juice and honey, then add soda water and stir well. Sounds weird, but tastes good.

Here's a recipe I did find for a virgin martini, but to be honest it's not a taste you can replicate as it consists of 3 types of alcohol!

Ingedients:
3 oz apple juice
3 oz sparkling water
Splash of cherry juice

Directions:
1.) Add ingredients into a Swank martini glass over ice
2.) Garnish with maraschino cherry

Good luck, have a great time and a fantastic birthday!

a virgin martini...

Um... the only thing virgin in a martini is an olive.

I'm trying to think of something that would come close, flat club soda and a touch of vinegar perhaps.

I found a website that has virgin cocktails on it. Its a UK site, but it appears the measurements are in the American Standard of ounces, cups teaspoons, it may automatically be making me US standard because it found it from my ISP, you may get metric being from Oz, or else you need to buff up your conversion skills... 1tsp is 5mL etc.

The bottom website is the most awesome conversion site around, if you happen to be in need of converting things

Lemon-Ginger Tingler
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice
3 cups ginger ale, chilled

Cook sugar and water over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is disolved. Remove from heat and cool. Stir in lemon juice and store in the fridge in a tightly covered glass container. When you are ready to serve. Place ice and lemon slices in glasses and add 1/2 lemon juice mixture and 1/2 ginger ale.

I don't know about virgin Martini's. lol. but, I know a good smoothie recipe, you don't need measurements, well I don't use any. You just take a lime popsicle, some orange juice, ice, and strawberries and blend it all together in a blender. It's yummy. (if you use frozen strawbberies you don't need ice)

My favorite is frozen fruit, such as strawberries, papaya, mango, and pineapple blended together with Orange juice.

The orange juice you use for those shouldn't be just minute maid, but more naked juice or better yet fresh squeezed.

ANd these are simple, low fat, and delicious!

make a really fruity punch

im a big bowl mix a big can of golden circle golden pash (or whatever you like), pineaple juice, lemonaide, a small amount of dry ginger ale, a tin af fruit salad, ice with mint leaves frozen inside and serve with a ladle (ask your parents if they have a punch bowl with glasss)

another is pineapple juice, coconut milk, shaken with ice to kinda give you a pina colada

you can also freeze watermelon and then blend it with sugar to have a watermelon slushy (will be expensive this time of year though)

lemonade and grenadine to make fire engines

chocolada
crushed ice, 60ml cold milk, 30ml coconut cream, 2 table spoons chocky syrup
combine all ingedients in a tall glass

jaffa fizz
fanta, chocy icecream
make like a spider

have fun!!
