Why do I get thirsty for water after drinking a soda?

because the syrup in the soda dries out your mouth

soda will not quench your thirst...water will!

maybe it has caffiene in it, caffiene is a diuretic

soda has caffeine in it, which dehydrates you.

Caffeine, Sugar and Salt.

Even though soda may have water in it, it doesn't do much for your thirst.

Soda has salt and sugar in it.

Because of the sugar

The acid must have done that. Soda won't make you thirsty, are you sure you're still thirsty?

Because of the sugar. The sugar makes you thirsty. I always drink water because when I do drink soda I am still thirsty.

Depends what kind of soda your drinking. Sugar laden and caffinated beverages raise blood osmolality. This is picked up by baroreceptors in your aorta and carotid arteries. This is relayed to the hypothalamus in your brain. This area tells you to drink water to dliute your blood and lower the concentration.

Th caffine in it dehydrates your body.It is not good to drink soda(especially when excercising) because it sucks the water out of you and replaces it with tons of sugar.Hence the reason that people get fat from drinking soda.

I believe it's the sodium contained in carbonated beverages.

Because soda is full of sugar and doesn't hydrate you at all. If you're thirsty, drink water. Drink soda as a treat, not to hydrate.

It could be a multitude of things...but that is how I found out I was diabetic...Do you urinate often as well?

IT MAY POSSIBLY BE THAT YOU HAVE DIABETES IF YOU ARE CONSTANTLY THIRST THEN HAVE YOUR SUGAR CHECKED TO MAKE SURE.

Caffeine and glucose (sugars) in soft drinks are only for additive and flavoring. These two ingredients don't make you thirsty.

pop doesnt quench thirst..water does.
