psh...just droppin em in the coke is boring follo these instructions for fun:
1. take a bottle of diet coke and a paper towel...shape the paper towel down to a 3x3 square....slide the paper towel down into the opening...keep the paper towel open so u can drop the mentos in it...but do not let the paper towel touch the coke
2. add 4-5 mentos
3. carefully cap it...dont allow the mentos in the paper towel to touch the coke yet
4. once the bottle is capped...shake vigorously for a few minutes
5. the fun part...hold it to where the bottle is parallel lengthwise to you...DO NOT HOLD WHERE U R LOOKING AT THE CAP OR THE BOTTOM...throw it on the ground...and watch her go (takes off like a rocket)...sweetest thing ever

Drop a mentos into a diet coke. That's all you need to know. If you use a 2 liter you might want to drop more than 1 mentos.
Drop the mentos into the 2 liter bottle and voila.
Watch the Mythbusters episode about this on Discovery channel. They cover everything and even break it down to see if all soda works or just diet coke.
They found out that it must be a combination of the artificial sweetner and the soda water that causes the reaction with the candy.
plain soda water and regular coke worked but not as good as the diet coke. Very fun to watch.
