(1) it is the real thing since 1886
(2) it is delicious and refereshing
(3) it is the official soft drink of planet Earth
(4) it has the contour-shape bottle
(5) it is the symbol of friendship

Because it is a tastey, well known product with lots of advertising. It also secures deals with most retailers to be sold exclusively.

Because coke has lots and lots of money, so it can do an unbelieveable amount of advertising. It not that it's that popular, it's just heavily advertised.
I have no idea, can't stand it myself. I once ended up in a small town in Tennessee where they had nothing but Coke products. Their was no Pepsi in the entire town! Needless to say i didn't stay there long.
lucky i wish coke was poular here! its pepsi thats the big thing. and yes coke is better! which is why its probably popular where ever u r!
It's the advertising. Coke *invented* advertising the way we know it today - putting their logo on everything from playing cards to telephones, not to mention all of the billboards worldwide. The Coca-cola logo is one of the most recognized symbols in the world.
and it's also quite tasty.

I honestly don't know why coke is so popular everywhere. It's so bad for you and did you know it is used to clean rust off of things? Oh yeah, and it can dissolve a T Bone steak in less than 5 days..
So why is it so popular and why do people drink it? I will never know.
