Why does the directions on KoolAid tell you to NOT mix in a metal container?!

Question:

Why does the directions on KoolAid tell you to NOT mix in a metal container?

Answers:
Metal is "reactive" - it will make the koolaid taste off. Quite a few reciepes suggest that you use a "non-reactive" bowl or container.

because the dyes in the KoolAid react with the metal ions in the container, and it can make you really sick: throwing up, diarrhea, all the fun stuff.

Metal containers contain aluminum which will taint the Koolaid.

Nothing like a nice sip of metal flavoring.

Found this response from someone who tried it:

I ended up with crappy tasting Kool-Aid. It just gives it some sort of metalic overtaste. I think the same is said of all fruit juices, partial fruit juices, and fruit drinks of questionable nutritional value.

i do not think you should mix it in a metal container considering you could get the mix stuck to the side or if u put hot water in it u may get burnt from the out side.

acid and dies from Koolaid corrode the metal and leave bad taste in the mix.
Consider what this beautiful stuff can do to your stomach!

I believe it has something to do with the reaction of the kool aid to the metal content in the pitcher. A navy sailor once told me that they use grape kool aid to clean the toilets on board submarines. I have really never drank Kool Aid since then. Yuk!

The metal taste will get into the KoolAid. Also the KoolAid might hurt the metal in the container.
