Gloopy Tea?!
Gloopy Tea?
Has anyone ever noticed that tea has a definate gloopy quality?
If you have water it seems thinner than tea. Hot water and milk is also thinner than tea. So, does tea have something in it that makes it gloopier and thicker???

Ok, perhaps I should have said slightly thicker. I make tea properly and never put milk in first. As dear ma said - Tea is an infusion - made with boiling water. I just wondered if anyone else had noticed it seems thicker . . .

Check the directions of the type of tea that you are making, herbal tea (tisane) normally take 4-6 minutes, black tea 3-4 minutes and green tea 1-2 minutes. Maybe your milk is thick. I use whole leaves and it has never looked thicker than the water i have used to brew it. Just thought of something! Don't put the milk in until you have taken the teabag out. My mom used to do that and if i recall, it did tend to look "gloopy if the teabag was in after the milk went in.
happy tea drinking!
yuk! don't know how you're making it!! make sure the kettle is just boiled, let it steep fro a minute or so, then a drop of semi skimmed milk- not gloopy at all!
