How is soda made?!

Question:

How is soda made?

(It dosn't matter which kind of soda you choose to explain)

Answers:
Fizzy drinks (carbonated beverages) are produced by injecting carbon dioxide into the drink at a pressure of several atmospheres. Carbon dioxide dissolves readily at normal atmospheric pressure, particularly in cold beverages, but far more so at high pressure and large volumes of gas can be dissolved. When the pressure is released the carbon dioxide comes out of solution forming numerous bubbles and begins releasing the carbon dioxide back into the atmosphere. After a few hours most of the carbon dioxide has been released and the drink is said to be "flat".

The chemical phenomenon whereby carbonated drinks taste sharper is due to carbonic acid inducing a slight burning sensation, and is only indirectly related to the bubbles―both phenomena are caused by the carbonic acid concentration.

Carbonation can also be produced by partial fermentation in a sealed container. This is the method used in the production of ginger beer and by careful control, and use of appropriate yeasts, the alcohol level can be kept very low.

with love!!!<3

soda is really just dandruff mixed in high fructose corn syrup

carbon dioxide

setzer water
sugar
flavor
color

thats it.

When I was in Elementary school we made our own orange flavored soda using a 3 liter bottle of setzer with about 2 cups of sugar 3 drops of red color and one drop of yellow to make it orange. Some flavor from an orange drink mix, (like tang mix without sugar) or I suppose you could use fruits. Hmm
sounds like somthing Ill have to experiment with.

very good question.
soda as the name indicates is made with soda, but do not let this fool you, it just a clever advertising ploy, because it does not contain any soda at all. If you think I am pulling your leg just look up "soda" in a chemical dictionary and tell me I am wrong.
anyhow, here is a recipe for a generic soda drink:
1/2 gallon water
1/2 salted herring
1/4 cup raw liver
3 TBSP cod liver oil
6 TBSP sugar
2 TSP red food coloring

puree in a blender and add dry ice to make bubbles...
here you go, a home-made soda...
as good as anything you can buy.

now, seriously, soda is basically a sugar water with added artificial flavors, the bubbles (carbonation) is achieved by injecting some liquid carbon dioxide right before it is canned.
when you open the can, the pressure inside changes and the carbon dioxide escapes in the form of bubbles.
having said that, it still does not conain ANY soda.
