Why do water bottles have a "best if used by" date?!

Question:

Why do water bottles have a "best if used by" date?

Answers:
the plastic wears out after a while

that plastic is always giving off molecules into the water.

The plastic imparts a bad taste. Also, do not re-use plastic water bottles.

Plastic can leave a taste if its in there too long, it wont do you any harm, its just the water wont taste as good.

all food and drink items have to have it on there....have you tased water sitting in a bottle long after it expires? It doesn't taste to good.....

They don't taste good after a while. Tip: Don't use plastic water bottles for more than 2 days. They're a breeding ground for bacteria.

Bottles have a"best if used by" date as after a period of time the drink in the bottle releases a substance and this can change the colour or taste of the drink or even someone who is fagile can fall ill. That is why a "best if used by" date is put on the bottle to avoid such cases.

Probably if the water sits for TOO long, water does get stagnit, if it sits for too long!

Because the plastic the water is in breaks down over time and contaminates the water.
I used to work for a company that sold water and water coolers.
