What are the nicest drinks made in a smoothie maker?!

Question:

What are the nicest drinks made in a smoothie maker?

What fruit do you use and how much

Answers:
my boyfriend and i freeze pineapple juice in ice cube trays (it stores easier that way--just throw the cubes in a freezer bag and zip!)... we don't have a smoothie maker, but a magic bullet blender works just as well!

smoothie for one:
throw about 4 pineapple cubes (or 3/4 cup of juice and a couple ice cubes),
3 or 4 ripe strawberries or a handful of raspberries,
and a half cup or so of orange juice
(1/4 cup of coconut rum optional!)
into your blender or smoothie maker and blend till...well, blended, i guess :)

for a smoother smoothie, add a 1/4 cup of low-fat yogurt... or a scoop of vanilla ice cream or mango sorbet! use your imagination! :)

I use strawberries, pineapple, peach and loads of vodka (optional) and ice - with some greek yoghurt

I use orange juice, pineapple, strawberries, mango, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries =)

banana, strawberry, mango, peach and passion fruit, mixed with low - fat yogurt or semi -skimmed milk, and add some ice and Bayleys or Irish cream liquor

also you could mix some full fat milk, coffee, caramel, ice and a shot of rum...and then sprinkle some cinnamon it is great!

Grape juice and frozen strawberries are good

apple juice
strawberries
yogurt
margarita mix

easy formula:

start with fruit juice
add frozen fruit
add one kind of sherbet
use ice and sugar to taste

i make strawberrys, 1 mango and 2 bananas with a medium pot of natural yoghurt, dash of milk and a couple of ice cubes..ahhhhhhhhhh lovely.

Just a good mixture of fresh fruit, whatever you like and some ice

strawberries and banana yummmmm

My personal suggestion is that no matter what fruit juice you are making always had one orange worth of orange juice.

Just add the amounts to your own taste really but here are some I make.

I use one orange worth of orange juice, banana & milk.

Or one orange, 1/2 avocado, 4-5 dates, a small handful of almonds, milk.

orange, strawberry, milk

You can add sugar to any of them if you like but if you have a nice flavored orange you probably won't have to add sugar.

How much fruit depends on how many people one drink is made for. I always use banana as a main then add either; raspberries, strawberries or blueberries, you can either use milk or a fruit juice such as grapefruit or orange juice and I always add a teaspoon or two of honey. Very healthy and quick to make. In the morning its a fast and filling breakfast and a nice sweet treat in the evening.
There are loads of smoothie books or you can copy some recipes from the Internet.

cocktails - i like those del monte raspberry smoothie bars wizzed together with vodka and some raspberry and strawberry robinsons for milk for a bit of sweetness.

Or, banana and banana robinsons for milk wizzed up with milk, ice, vodka and baileys. oh yuuuuummy!

In my opinion, the most refreshing drinks for summer don't have any creamy elements in them....

2 cups ice
4 cups chopped honeydew melon OR pitted lychees
a few squeezes of lime juice
honey to sweeten, if needed

If you do want a creamy smoothie, try....

1 container (about a cup) plain yogurt
1/2 cup coconut milk
2 cups chopped mango
1 cup ice

Very often I start with frozen fruit (it's pretty cheap to buy in most grocery stores these days), so the smoothie stays extra frosty! I really like blueberries, peaches, blackberries, strawberries, cherries, and papaya. Fruits I usually use fresh are cantaloupe, bananas, pineapple, and watermelon. Just play around with the proportions - you'll find a recipe you like!

i think whatever fruit you like the most would taste good in a smoothie.

how much?...a lot of it!

I like pineapples so I use them the most and it depends on how many drinks I am making at the time.

Mixed berries about a cup if you won't more you can add to it but you can't take away & icecream

I've just started making my own smoothies - they're so expensive in the shops! I use tinned fruit - there's a lot of variety and more choice, but I try to look for fruit in natural juices instead of syrup - better for you. So, one of my faves is

Half tin of cherries (I actually used fresh cherries once, but I needed about 20 and had to pip them all. Took ages!)
One glass of raspberry or some kind of berry juice
Some cherry yoghurt or vanilla ice cream
Whip in up in the blender. It's really really nice, goes down like a dream, especially if you're not a big fruit eater (which I'm not unless it's pureed!)

Another one I do is using apple juice, a banana and whatever fruit you wanna throw in with it, maybe pineapple or mango. Bananas are excellent thickeners, as is ice cream or yoghurt. As one of the other users said, honey is really nice in smoothies, but it's not very good for you. It's good with sour fruits like blackberries though.

Just try getting creative - the only measurement I use is a glass of juice and a load of random quantities of other ingredients!

Enjoy!
