sometimes it is less expensive to buy the whole bean coffee & grind your own.
main difference is that whole bean coffee is ground just before brewing and often tastes fresher and fuller-bodied than pre-ground coffee. when coffee is ground at the factory and then sits in it's container until use, the essential oils have more time to oxidize and evaporate, thus the loss in flavor.
The answer is explicit in the question. Whole beans are whole beans and ground beans are ground.
whole bean is coffee before it is grounded, the form it is in when it is grown and picked. And ground coffee is what you put in the percolator to make that morning cup of Joe.
SmartAlec is correct.
you would have to find somewhere to grind the whole beans and the ground coffee you just put in i now one of the two is more expensive i just forget which one i think the ground one cause it is already ground
Imagine beans before they're cooked. They're about pea sized and with coffee beans, they are all brown. They are the form of ground coffee before grinding. You grind the whole beans to make ground coffee. You cannot brew coffee with whole beans though, you have to grind them. Stores sell both whole and ground while whole beans are less expensive (because you they haven't been ground) but they have gringing machines at most supermarkets. It is said that gringing your own beans before brewing makes the coffee richer and bolder in taste, so they do sell home grinders. Look around and see what's most convenient for your needs. I buy ground coffee and store it in the freezer. This helps keep the coffee fresh.
Hello... In order to use your beans you must grind them. However, once beans have been ground they have about a week of peak flavor left in them. After a week the beans start to get an acid taste. You can keep them in airtight container to help preserve flavor while using them and keep them in freezer until you are ready to use them for optimal flavor.
If you buy whole beans and then ground them yourself,
you'll have the freshest tasting coffee possible.
The taste difference is like night and day. Whole bean is good within a week of being roasted. If you buy ground coffee, chances are you are drinking stale coffee.
Buy green beans and roast them yourself for ultimate freshness. A bag of green coffee beans can be stored for over a year and maintain its freshness. You just roast what you would use within a week and that way you are always drinking fresh coffee.
Storing beans in fridge or freezer affects the balance of the bean and damages the natural oils contained in the bean.
For best results, Roast once per week and grind just before every brew.
After beans are ground the air tends to make their oils rancid and the taste bitter. That is why true coffee fanatics buy them whole and grind them just before brewing.
