What do you add to tonic water?!
What do you add to tonic water?
I thought it would be just like soda water, but it's not, it's disgusting! Is there any way of making it yum?
Answers:
Hi,
tonic water is not normally drunk alone. It is intended as an addition to alcoholic drinks such as Gin or Vodka. The bitterness adds a certain something to the taste (if you can call it that, of these drinks)
However, as a devout Gin and Tonic drinker, yet one who has to keep sober in order to drive I often drink my tonic without the gin. Having drunk this for so long I must say I do not mind the bitter taste and I can drink it without the addition of any other mixer.
I realise others may not have my tastes...The addition of lemon (preferably fresh) will take the edge of the bitterness away and make it more pleasant to drink.
However, if you choose not to drink alcoholic drinks (the best use for tonic) and you don't like the taste of the tonic alone I wonder why you are looking for things to 'dilute' the taste you don't like? Have you a free, inexhaustible, supply? Why not find a drink you DO like?
I don't suppose this letter is of much use to you, but I hope you resolve your problem.
Cheers,
BobSpain
Some Gin and a slice of Lemon!
tonic water is for alcohol. That makes it pretty yum.
perhaps it is an aquired taste , i like it just fine as is but a slice of lime squeezed into it is pretty good too .
I know how old you are. No alcohol for you.
1/3 fruit juice, 2/3 tonic water.
Gin is the preferable addition.

Add gin to it & a twist of lime!
I add lime flavored Smirnoff! No need to slice limes this way!
Add sugar.
