Beverage idea help?!

Question:

Beverage idea help?

How does somebody start a new beverage? I have a great idea and have done extensive research, there is no product like this out there. I have a lab working on the formula now.
Once I have the actual product made what are the laws regarding distribution, FDA approval, etc...
What is the smartest way to have it bottled, labeled, etc...
I see many products, beverages, supllements, etc. that say they have not been approved by the FDA, so what is the real truth on this? Is FDA approval not needed?
Obviously new beverages pop up all the time so this is not such a far fetched idea I would think.
The product will be finished soon. I have a complete marketing plan, money to spend, etc.... I just need to know some details.
I have seen similar questions like this posted here before, but with no real concrete answers.
I have also tried to research these questions but have found it hard to find info on new beverage ideas.
Any help with my question would be great. Thank you!

Answers:
No matter what you do you need to patent your beverage. I know I have worked at a brewery and bottling is very labor intensive. If I were to do this on my own the first thing after the patent I would do is find some one to help finance me. I would probably patent the idea and then retain a lawyer and try to sell the idea to one of the larger companies. If you meet and get no response you have a patent in hand and you can sue them. If they like it well enough you could not only sell it to them, but set yourself up with a R&D job. Corporations already have all marketing, research, and distribution.

I would look under Micro Brewery's
