Why is the display date always before the use by date on juice cartons?!

Question:

Why is the display date always before the use by date on juice cartons?

Answers:
So that you have a few days to use it.

No really.. they figure that they have a better chance of selling the product if there is a week lag between the sell-by and the use-by dates

So the stockers can pull it and send it either back to the company, or more likely, to a place like Big Lots who will sell it cheaply, or to a food bank.
