Do you think bottled water is a ripoff? Why?!

Question:

Do you think bottled water is a ripoff? Why?

Answers:
There are good points and bad points to buying water. I have seen bottled water for example in the movie theatres I go to. They will give you a small cup to fill with water from the foutain there for free. In that case I think it is a rip off. But, if you travel, I think it's a blessing. You can carry with you, and drink it when you want. It's nice to have a portable drink in the car. Take care, and best wishes.

A Matter Of Taste

it depends where they take it from.if they take it out of underground water from near a city it sux.if it's from a spring and has been filtered it's ok.the rest is just same as tap-water

Yes.
Most of the time it is not any better or healthier than tap water. And most of the bottled waters taste like chlorine.

It is! This is not the third world where water is contaminated! Drink water from a water fountain! Ppl pay more for water than a coke!

Yes, you can boil your own water and have the same thing. I dont drink water ever unfortunately.

Because it isn't any better than garden hose water and costs 10,000 times as much.

Sometimes. When the water is filtered then yes becasue thats just like having brita water at home. But for spring water no. Although I think they charge way to much for water.

Yes, I do think it is a ripoff but I buy it anyway because it does taste better.

Not really. The weird thing about bottled drinks is that it doesn't really matter what is in the bottle--you have to pay for the bottle. If you want cheap and chlorinated, go to your tap. If you want clean and convienent, get bottled.

It is kinda strange that water sometimes costs more per gallon than gas, but that's just because we feel like paying for it!

Not totally, only because there are some situations where water isn't available through normal sources. Like in power failures, where people don't have water available at home.

It's not for us. We have well water, and it has so much iron that the toilet starts turning orange again within 3 days of cleaning it. We've even given the dog bottled water. But we mostly use the gallon jugs of it, to save some money.

sometimes....

Its not if you don't buy it.

Unless you live in an area where the tap water is overtreated or the pipes are in rough shape (think NYC & London), OR you are in an underdeveloped country, there is no reason to be concerned. Most of the United States, anyway, has some of the cleanest, nicest water available and it must bug poorer places to see Americans lugging around water all of the time!
I sometimes buy bottled water when I am on the road, but I save the bottle and refill it with tap when I get home. This way, I usually have it handy and ready when I go the next time. So basically, I guess I get bottled water mostly for the vessel, not the stuff inside.

Yes
You already pay for tap water through taxes (unless on well).

I think in general yes. But, when traveling, they make sense.

I think it is because all you have to do is take a glass and put water in it. Some people think the bottled water is use-ful while you travel but all you have to do when you travel is put water in a water bottle. I am a person who is tight with money.

No not at all..its cleaned, filter and safe to drink.
