Was SevenUp ever a part of the Pepsi empire?!

Question:

Was SevenUp ever a part of the Pepsi empire?

Answers:
yes back in 1965 then it became its own company in 1983. please pick me as best anwser

yes it was. Pick the guy above me as the best answer, since it seems like he'd really like that.

I think both respondants are to young to remember, I was born in the 50's and Pepsi took over the brand in the US and Canada in the mid 80's, and still has the licence to produce it today like Hire's and the Crush brands it was a private company, but like Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut they were all swallowed up over the year just like Coke did with Minute Maid and Gatorade.

But if you go to there website, the company name is DrPepper/7Up Inc

No. Seven-Up was never owned by Pepsi. Seven-Up was always it's own company(originally called The Howdy Corporation) then Phillip Morris bought 7UP, then around 1995 or so when it was bought by Cadbury/Schwepps
