Is car-a-mel the southern way to say caramel or is it carmel?!

Question:

Is car-a-mel the southern way to say caramel or is it carmel?

Answers:
either way is correct.

car-a-mel is just pronouncing it the way it is spelled. I live in California and I know people who pronounce it that way that have never been down south.

There was a candy commercial some years back, with two people pronouncing it both ways, arguing over which one was correct. Both pronunciations are correct.

The proper southern lady way to say this is Car-muhl...with a little drawl. "I think I'll have a car-muhl sundae"

i think its just one of those you say tomato i say to-ma-to things

Well, I grew up in NC and i pronounce it carmel, but I think it depends.
