Have you ever had a sealed gatorade go bad inside the bottle?!

Question:

Have you ever had a sealed gatorade go bad inside the bottle?

i got these from costco and they have been in the back of my jeep for a couple weeks and some of them are tasting weird. they have a dusty type taste to them. could it be mold?

Answers:
Sometimes the hot sun hitting the drinks can change the integrity of the drink. Especially diet drinks. Remember Desert Storm where all those guys were getting sick from the diet drinks that had sat in the hot sun? Call Gatorade (or e-mail) and tell them what happened. They will probably refund your money. Be ready to give them some numbers either off the case box or off the bottles themselves. Good luck and don't drink any more of them!

I doubt its mold, but if they were in direct sunlight they could have possibly soured a bit. I dont think they can really go "bad" though.

Rays from the sun and even extreme heat or cold can break down molecules, and change the taste of many drinks. If it taste funny or different, personally I would not drink it. I would, at the very least keep the drinks covered from the sun, and also not expose them to extreme heat or cold. As for them going bad - I have had them in the pantry for months without going bad.
