That would depend. At home (Florida) it is soda. When we visit relatives (Michigan) we ask for pop.

Depends were you are. At home I call it pop but when on the road, I generally get stunned looks of stupidity if I ask if they have a pop machine.

Pop is a "great lakes" dialect. Meaning the majority of people that use the word are located near the great lakes. I can attest to this since I spent most of my life on Lake Erie near Buffalo. Where almost everyone called it pop. Yet I could drive 2 hours east to Rochester and hear almost everyone call it soda. AND now I live in in Mississippi and hear most people call it coke. Which is considered southern dialect. And yes to the pop and soda people they even call Mt Dew and Pepsi coke. Don't ask me......
