How do you break the habit of soda?!

Question:

How do you break the habit of soda?

I don't mean to sound crazy but I work 2nd shift, and somedays I don't get up untill go to work. So I can go a couple days without sitting down and having a decent meal. When I am at work I am constantly drinking soda. I haven't lost more than a couple pounds since I started this routine. But I want to start actually eating and drinking less soda.

It's easy to get addicted to the caffiene and sugar in regular sodas. There's something really wonderful when that first gulp hits your mouth! Anyway, try substituting a carbonated flavored water instead. You don't have to go cold-turkey, but try doing it every other one and then increasing the water over the soda. I like iced tea, so I often substitute iced green tea for soda. And, you can also try plain old refreshing water with lemon!

I actually stopped drinking soda alot also.I switched to green tea and water. You really have to pace yourself.try to buy more ater and green tea.Try out differnt types of teas. Also gatorade is awesome to.I now only drink soda about twice a month at the most.

ps 2nd shift sounds like me ha i work at wawa and i work 3-11 and only get up at like 1.

Break free from the habit cold turkey. Then maybe once a week treat yourself to a rootbeer float, or some caffiene free soda. They even have the caffiene and sugar free sodas that are great. I found that drinking crystal light helps me feed my liquid sugar addiction. But it doesn't have that much sugar at all. It is almost flavored water! You should try it, you'll be addicted to the crystal light instead!

Abigail, it begins with the decision to find an alternative. I do understand what you are going through. You'll actually find that your stamina at work improves if you get rid of the sugar source in soda. Just plain water works fine. Some lemon juice in it, or try a combination of lemon and lime. I wouldn't use an artificial sweetener because they are not good for you either. Foe energy, you need a complex food such as nuts that give energy, but other things such as the needed oils, such as the Omega 3's that help promote good health.

Start by bringing in a water with you when you go to work. You start by drinking one then gradually increasre the water you drink and decrease the sodas you drink. It will be tough at first but you should be able to reduce the amount of sodas you drink in a couple of weeks.

instead of drinking sodas try gatorade or try a healthy fruit bar.
